Abstract
The proposed structure for p-hydroxyphenylferulate, a phenolic compound derived from Liatris elegans, was synthesized from ferulic acid in three steps. However, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectral data for the synthesized p-hydroxyphenylferulate did not match those in previous reports. Instead, the structure for the synthesized p-hydroxyphenylferulate was confirmed by comparison analysis with 1H- and 13C-NMR data for p-hydroxyphenylcaffeate, a natural desmethyl derivative.
