Abstract
The contents of heavy metals in boiled Sibjeondaebotang with those in its herbal inuedients are compared. The herbal medicines of Sibjeondaebotang were bought at 10 deferent markets. The contents of 14 heavy metals (Ag, As, Ba, Cd, Cr Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, Zn) were analysed using ICP. It was fecund out that 5 heavy metals (Pb, As, Ba, fe, Sb) were detected in only one boiled Sibieondaebotang. But they were detectable in all Sibjeondaebotang and its herbal before boiling. Fer example, the content of Hg in one pack of Sibjeondaebotang before boiling was 0.0647= 0.016 mg and Hg in boiled one was 0.0027; 0.005 mg. These results suggest that boiled Sibjeondaebotang which we take is less harmful than herbal medicine itself by heavy metals.
